Metallica (flexfax)
he does not blog.. i was too lazy to put description.. this is by Dopu
It was out of this fucking world!! :D, most amazing thing ever. Had a
total blast. So here is full narration
The concert was hapenning at Munich Olympic stadium, which itself is a
work of art. Looks amazing and the place around it is also beautiful with
a manmade lake around as well. So neways, we started off for the place
very early, thinking we'll have fight to get good places etc (we
unfortunately couldnt get standing places...were sold out, so Got stadium
seats) We had seat no's, but werent really sure if junta would follow
seating arrangements. We reached around 1.30....concert was supposed to
start at 5.30. The place is huuuuge! Apart frm the stadium there are lots
of other things...coz obv they had the olympics here , hence they have
hazaar diff sports facilities. so we took one chakkar of the stadium
,trying to figure out which gate we needed to enter from. Anyways found
out that they werent letting ppl in until 4.30. SO then we went n sat near
the lake n were just chilling all the way till 4.30. Finally they started
letting ppl in at 4.30, and surprise surprise, inspite of all the beer/pot
ppl were consuming continuously, it was most peaceful to get in, and this
for a Metallica concert. No maara maari etc. Unfortunately they didnt
lemme take my camera inside :(, but luckily saxy managed to smuggle his
one in, so he has snaps of concert. So our seats were the best in the
seating category. We were seated with the stage right in front, tho a bit
far off :(, but still , was amazing view.
There were 2 opening acts. the fast was some band called Lost Prophets.
Were decent, better than most of our local bands, and had a couple of nice
originals...well they played only originals ofcourse. Then ofcourse was
the circus act 'SlipKnot' . I cannot in anyway appreciate their kind of
music. But they are quite funny to watch performing. What with some 12
bandmembers, with masks and 3 drummers, one of whom in between kept taking
his drum stick and trying to murder his drum set by whacking it as hard as
he could on the side metal frame :D
Neways finally after a lot of waiting it was time for Tallica to
perform. The crowd was going crazy with anticipation. Generally they
started cheering and screaming anytime any technician came onto stage to
do soundchek type things. And then finally they got on stage n everyone
went wild. ...unfortunately I dont remember the order in which they played
the songs...but here is mostly the complete setlist.
1) Harvester of Sorrow
So they opened with this song, and kicked ass. Was awesome...as were
all the other songs :). Crowd warmed up nicely after this one. Im also not
mentioning 2 St anger songs they played :D, but heck I didnt care, the
rest was mind blowing
2) Fuel
So hetfield was generally chatting with crowd n then goes...so....Gimme
Fuel Gimme....!! and starts off the song...ok now im ditching commenting
on songs coz ill just keep saying they were awesome.
3) Memory Remains
4) Master of Puppets
This ofcourse was just brilliant. Was very glad they played quite a bit
of their older stuff.
5) Enter Sandman
6) Sad but True
8) Nothing Else Matters
All 3 songs frm Black album were amazing. The crowd went crazy with
Enter Sandman. Nothing else matters was also brilliant, everyone lit their
cigarette lighters(no flashing cell fones tho :D ) n general everyone in
whole arena swaying with hands in the air etc.
9) One
'One' was awesome!! They did the whole intro part even better than in
the song. With sound of gunfire and soldier talk etc, and crazy
pyrotechnics for the explosions in the intro of the song....when that
ended, the stage was completely filled with smoke...n suddenly there was
this bright white light at the back of the stage coming through all the
smoke and you could see the silhouette of Kirk with his guitar. Looked
amazing.
10) Damage INC
Was pleasantly surprised by this song. Isnt normally on Metallica
setlists. BUt Master of Puppets is one of my most fav albums, So I was
most thrilled. Again, was wonderfully done.
11) Creeping Death
12) For Whom The Bell Tolls
13) Fade to Black
All amazing songs, and all sounded great. Was headbanging all
throughout :).
14) Seek and Destroy
And this was their last song. I went crazy when Hetfield said ..."so has
anyone here heard of an album of ours called Kill Em All" :DD....was
actually hoping for The Four Horsemen, as they had played it at Donnington
Fest, but heck Seek and Destroy was amazing as well.
So that was the whole thing...Might have missed a couple of songs.
Throughout the whole concert there were just one thing that you keep
saying to yourself, Kirk Hammet, Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield are Gods.
You can hate St Anger as much as you want, but it still dosent take
anything away frm them. Seeing them live with closeups of Kirk guitaring,
on the Big Screen, make you realise how god a guitarist he is. Then there
was a special drum cam on Lars drumset, which was actually vibrating about
as he went crazy behind the drums. Looked awesome. Hetfield ofcourse
kicked ass. Their monkey bassist did a good job, just that I think noone
can ever replace Cliff Burton, 'The late great bass monster' as they
affectionately call him.
